Growth Endowment

In 1985, Memorial Church established an endowment fund dedicated to mission support. Twice a year the Foundation disperses part of the fund earnings to various mission projects.

A board of trustees who manages the fund consists of Memorial members who serve for a six-year term, as well as the church treasurer, church moderator, and the pastor.

The Endowment Funds are invested with the North Carolina Baptist Foundation. http://www.ncbaptistfoundation.org/

How does it work?

With as little as $1000.00 a permanent endowment can be established through the program given to honor or in memory of a loved one or family member or friend. The endowment will honor the designee with an annual contribution to a Christian cause of one’s choosing.

What has the fund done so far?

To date, over $80,000 has been given to mission causes such as Adopt An Annuitant, Athletes in Action, Baptist Retirement Homes, Baptist World Alliance, Beacon Rescue Mission, Belarussian Project, CareNet of Harnett County, Conquest Camp Scholarships, Habitat for Humanity of Harnett County, Harricane Relief, Kosovo Relief, Mission work in Africa, Campbell Divinity School, Theological Education for Spanish speaking students, Youth and Adult Trips, etc.

What can it do for me?

It can provide an easy way for persons to provide mission support to a Christian cause of their own choosing from this moment and until the Kingdom of God comes on earth as in heaven.

It may provide a way to keep part of an estate out of probate and thus help to lower estate taxes.

It may provide ways to increase income in retirement years, leaving the total value of an estate to heirs and still help fund a Christian cause until the Lord comes again. This is a way to “give it twice.”

It could offer a way for persons with property or assets that produce income to create a Lead Trust, providing income to Christian cause for 10 years and then have the property revert back to the owner.

What can I do now?

Decide if I am interested in having part of my estate go to a Christian cause of my choosing from now to eternity.

Contact one of the trustees of Memorial Baptist Church Growth Endowment. Or, contact the North Carolina Baptist Foundation for more information (1-800-521-7334). Ask for Mr. Bill Overby.

Be grateful for the privilege to give to Christian causes money that would otherwise be spent on taxes.
