Our History
Memorial Baptist Church was founded July 14, 1968 in Buies Creek School. One hundred, eleven people came together to begin the fellowship of Christians which today numbers 574 members. The school was our home until the present building, only partially completed, was dedicated on May 2, 1971.
From the beginning, this fellowship has planned for the spiritual training of college students, youth and children, including regular and special activities for all age groups.
An emphasis on missions was one of the earliest perceived goals of our people. A Woman’s Missionary Union was formed during the first month. Mission groups for various ages meet regularly. Visiting missionaries, including those in residence at Campbell, and international visitors have made missions personal to Memorial members. Youth and adults have gone on mission to sites in the United States and abroad. Members continue to support various local ministries.
Fellowship is a thread running through all our activities. We enjoy eating together regularly on Wednesday evenings and on special occasions. Intergenerational recreation, sports, music, and study keep us in touch with the whole church family.
Memorial Church members extend a welcome to all who would join us in worshipping God and in serving others
